A large and successful district energy business has an opportunity for a talented business development manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have worked in the low carbon heat market previously OR in an environment where they have had to stakeholder manage large developers ideally within energy infrastructure or construction.
Responsibilities / Deliverables
Find and convert opportunities to grow revenues and net margins consistent with business plan targets.
Develop key relationships with decision-makers and influencers in our target sectors.
Appraise opportunities and quickly filter out where we would struggle to meet client need.
Lead internal teams to efficiently provide costed proposals which exceed client expectations.
Develop solutions and product offers to meet anticipated customer need.
Identify the key risks in every opportunity and ensure they are properly managed through to contract close.
Lead contract negotiations with supply chain partners and customers with support from commercial & legal teams.
Contribute to ad hoc projects as required..
Develop, manage and present decentralized energy infrastructure projects from RIBA Stages 0 to 4, using established gateway processes.
Support decarbonization projects for existing schemes.
Role Requirements
Technical and market knowledge of district energy and decentralized energy systems.
Understanding construction project management, the requirements of CDM and safe systems of work.
Project management skills to deliver multiple tasks to time and quality and realize target benefits.
Management of uncertainty and risk and their presentation to decision-makers.
Economic and financial modelling and investment-grade business cases.
Awareness of commercial structures, contractual obligations and pricing of risk.
Experience of public procurement, competitive tendering and competition law.
Knowledge of carbon emissions accounting and low-carbon technologies.
