Sister/Charge Nurse - Frailty
Department: Elderly Medicine
Band 6 £37,338 - £44,962 per annum, pro rata if part-time
Hours: up to 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
An exciting opportunity has arisen on our Male elderly frailty ward. We are seeking to recruit dynamic, motivated and professional Junior sister/charge nurse.
You must be keen to learn and will be supported to take part in the development process and ensure you have the skills and competencies to look after our vulnerable patients.
You will also be supported to develop your own management style, working alongside the ward manager and engage in improvement work to develop our area into an effective, safe and productive place to work.
The successful candidate must be caring, dynamic, forward thinking, have good communication and organisational skills and be able to work within a team and on their own initiative.
A passionate leader with the desire to support and encourage a productive working environment alongside the current manager. Previous teaching/mentorship experience with a passion for quality improvements. A background in frail elderly medicine is desirable but not essential, but commitment to provide dignified and respectful care for our vulnerable patients is essential.

Clinical
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, incorporating the standards and philosophy of the ward.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive records of patient care.
Professional
To demonstrate a professional approach to leadership and management of staff.
To provide clinical support and advice to junior members of staff.
Management
To be responsible, in the absence of the ward manager, for total management.
To participate in the recruitment and selection of staff for ward eight.
Service Management
To assist when necessary with the definition of nursing standards and maintain the provision and effectiveness of those standards in line with clinical governance.
The post holder will ensure that they are aware of all issues relating to Clinical governance, Quality Assurance and Clinical Effectiveness and they carry out their duties in accordance with these frameworks and standards.
Education
To help to create and maintain an environment conductive to development and learning for all staff.
To assist in identifying the need for, and providing training/education in clinical, nursing and managerial techniques to all grades of staff.
