Manufacturing Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
Location: Northampton
Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 4PM
Please note this role is fully on site.
The Northampton facility designs and manufactures a variety of cooling systems and related components, including radiators and charge air coolers. As one of the largest producers of industrial radiators in the world, we manufacture over 35,000 radiators a year for companies in the power generation industry, off-highway, and construction markets worldwide. Reporting to: Aluminium Manufacturing Manager
Responsibilities:
1. Implementation of production processes and procedures.
2. Leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste.
3. Improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.
4. Manage KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximize success.
5. Design fixtures and tooling where required to ensure repeatable processes can be achieved.
6. Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs, generate production documentation to include PFMEA, CP, process instructions (SWES).
7. Introduce and monitor SPC at key/critical points of the process.
8. Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required.
Background and Experience - Must Have:
1. Experience in aluminium brazing techniques (CAB and Vacuum) and materials both metal and fluxes i.e. nocolok (5 years+ experience preferred).
2. A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
3. Proven experience in the use of lean tools and techniques, with strong problem-solving skills.
4. The ability to present data effectively.
5. Knowledge in the use and control of business metrics (OEE, COPQ, DLE, TAKT, Cycle Times etc.).
6. A good team working ethic.
Background and Experience - Desirable:
1. Metallurgy or metallurgical experience.
2. Capital expenditure forming.
3. 6 Sigma trained.
4. Proven project management skills.
Qualification/Education Required:
1. Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
2. Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Kaizen/A3 (continuous improvement and problem solving) process improvement and Poka Yoke (error proofing) techniques.
3. Understanding of design and production costs including waste, downtime, scrap, and rework.
