Role Summary The Manager of Import and Export is responsible for executing, managing and continuously improving international import and export as well as logistics compliance. This role requires adherence to regulations, customs procedures, tariffs, trade agreements and operational processes. Utilizing previous experience, knowledge, partnerships and continuous training, the individual executes existing processes in alignment with Autolus’ strategic supply chain network. This includes managing aspects such as Incoterms, HTS, AES, permits, tariffs, VAT, IATA, DOT, CTPAT and AEO. Stringent document management is necessary for review, recourse and internal and external auditing. The Manager of Import and Export works closely with internal teams, such as sales, operations, and finance, as well as external partners like suppliers and customs brokers. Additionally, the individual will collaborate with customs officials, regulatory bodies, and other relevant entities to ensure the efficient, timely, and accurate delivery of goods. The Manager of Import and Export is also responsible for implementing corrective and preventive actions for import and export as well as logistics compliance issues. The individual drives continuous improvement to keep processes current, reliable, and sustainable. This role requires strong organizational skills, in-depth knowledge of international trade and logistics laws as well as excellent communication abilities to ensure smooth and efficient global trade operations. Key Responsibilities • Manages import and export and logistics compliance ensuring effective execution and compliance adherence • Engages in import and export and logistics compliance troubleshooting to maintain the movement of critical goods in addition to identifying corrective and preventive actions • Evaluates industry peer group and 3rd party guidance to maintain and conduct import/export and logistics compliance assessments • Supports a sustainable and scalable compliance maturity strategy distilling into action evolving/new compliance requirements • Fosters a partnership with internal/external stakeholders and suppliers forming alignment and accountability to actions supporting compliant execution • Adheres to and recommends improvements to policies, procedures and training covering for example: Import and Export Considerations, Incoterms, HTS classification, Documentation, Permits/Licenses, Tariffs, VAT, CTPAT and AES etc. • Manages compliance KPIs in addition to regular process audits which ensure established targets are achieved • Supports import and export and logistics compliance that sets the foundation for current and future needs • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all relevant Data Protection requirements • Proactively identifies potential study issues/risks and recommends/implements solutions • Attend internal and external team meetings, as scheduled and necessary • Travel up to 10% of working time to EU and US sites • Other duties as assigned Demonstrated skills and competencies E – Essential P – Preferred Experience • 4 years of Import and Export and Logistics (Customs Brokerage, Import/Export, Transportation, Distribution) experience in cell/gene therapy or biopharma industries (E) • Working with multiple internal/external stakeholders and suppliers to clarify requirements as well as collaborate with customs officials, regulatory bodies, and other relevant entities (E) • Engagement and or relationship with customs agencies and brokers, USDA, FDA, CTPAT, AEO, etc. in issue resolution or process development (P) • Development and oversight of ground and air, parcel and freight, domestic/international, import/export and logistics solutions (P) • Improvement techniques utilizing Six Sigma and or Lean identifying and realizing opportunities for improvement (P) Qualifications • BS/BA in Operations/Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or similar (E) • Licensed Customs Broker (P) • Relevant certifications: Import/Export, Logistics, Supply Chain, Six Sigma, Lean, etc. (P) • Membership in professional organizations and or industry conference participation, such as trade and user groups to enhance knowledge of supply chain logistics (P) Skills/Specialist knowledge • Working with stakeholders and suppliers as well as customs officials, regulatory bodies, and other relevant entities to ensure import and export and logistics compliance (E) • Collaborating and partnering with stakeholders driving decisions and results as well as establishing and holding others accountable (E) • Follows policies and procedures and ensures are relevance as regulatory and other government agencies requirements change (E) • Trade regulations, licenses and permits (E) • Communicating information, status, issue, resolution, recommendation, etc. in clear, concise and direct approach (E) • Logistics and Supply Chain practices and strategy (E) • Strong organization, planning and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize (E) • Strong attention to detail and rigorous data accuracy (E) • Taking initiative, driving with sense of urgency to meet requirements and desired results (E) • Diligent, reliable and willing to ask for help from others (E) • Proficient in English and local languages (E) • Excellent MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project skills (E) • Six Sigma and or Lean practitioner (P) • Cell/Gene therapy or biopharma industry acumen (P) • Working knowledge of biologic material transport (P) LI-DNI
