About Resource Futures

The opportunity
We help local authorities to better understand resident behaviours and how people engage with waste and recycling services. To support this work, we are looking for fieldwork staff to undertake short term projects across the UK, assisting our Behaviour Change team through fieldwork opportunities such as:
1. Dooostep conversations: Talking to householders about their waste and recycling, either collecting details of their habits and engagement levels, providing service information, or helping motivate them to make more sustainable decisions.
2. Recycling monitoring: Visually assessing the quality of recycling placed out for collection e.g. checking for items that should not be in the recycling bin to assess the effectiveness of a waste and recycling campaign or service change. This work is often done working closely with collection crews.
3. Participation monitoring: Work closely with recycling collection crews to visually assess how residents participate in existing recycling services.
4. Recycling in flats assessment: Assessing the location, cleanliness, and effectiveness of bin storage at communal properties, for example, for residents living in flats.
Fieldwork activities are typically short term and come up on an ad hoc basis. We are currently looking for two Fieldworkers (one of these roles will include driving duties) to join us in Torfaen from 24 June until 12 July, working 5 days per week. We are also recruiting Fieldworkers for work in Maldon from 17 June. The work would therefore suit people that want flexibility in their work commitments and are happy to work away from home for short periods. The role can be fairly physically demanding as you’ll likely to be on your feet for a lot of the day. You may be required to use a tablet to enter data as you go. Full, bespoke training will be provided for each job, with all training hours paid.
Essential qualities we require from all our fieldwork operatives:
5. reliable and punctual

7. be able to learn quickly and pay attention to detail
8. have good time-keeping skills
9. have interest in and a basic understanding of waste and recycling issues
10. be comfortable using smart tech (e.g. tablet or smart phone)
11. have a reasonable level of numeracy
12. be physically fit enough to able to be on your feet all day
13. be willing to work in all weather
14. be able to manage, interpret and record information and follow instructions provided; and
15. be able to communicate professionally and confidently with members of the public.
We are especially interested in hearing from anyone who is an experienced driver.
We provide all required protective clothing, and ensuite accommodation and a subsistence allowance for all jobs undertaken away from home. No previous experience is required, but you must be reliable, motivated, and willing to do hands-on work.
We are a Living Wage Employer. Hourly pay starts at £12.00 p/h + holiday pay £1.45 p/h and are set on a job by job basis. We also pay £28.28 subsistence payment per night away from home, plus £7.50 per day for breakfast subsistence payment.
