The Role
At M&G plc we are passionate about delivering a seamless onboarding journey for new hires across the globe, ensuring they feel welcome and ready to succeed from day one. As an HR Onboarding Apprentice, you will play a vital role in our HR Colleague Services & Governance Department, collaborating with our Recruitment Team, screening partner and wider HR colleagues. This role also offers unique insights into other HR teams, helping you broaden your knowledge and shape your future career in HR.
What will you be doing?
As the HR Onboarding Apprentice, your day-to-day activities will include:
* Guiding candidates through their onboarding journey, from offer stage to their first day in the business.
* Preparing and issuing contracts, offer letters and onboarding documents to new joiners and existing colleagues.
* Ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance by managing pre-employment screening across global markets, within agreed timescales.
* Responding to candidate enquiries, ensuring clear and positive communication.
* Working collaboratively with Resourcing, Reward, HRBPs and various teams across the wider HR function and business to ensure all processes & escalations are followed in line with our risk framework.
* Identifying opportunities for improving our HR processes.
What will I need to be successful in this role?
* Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, and a strong customer focus.
* Attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to balance work with studies.
* Good understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Empathy and good listening skills.
* Ability to promptly escalate any issues or concerns.
* A desire to learn and genuine interest in HR and the financial services industry.
* A proactive team player who is also confident working independently and remotely when required.
Our application process

Minimum Requirements
* Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2025.
* You must not be enrolled in another further education programme at the beginning of the programme.
* Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK.
* Living in Scotland.
* Pass in Five National 5s including English and Maths.
* Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent.
Training Provided
As an HR Onboarding Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake a CIPD certificate in People Practice. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face-to-face inductions and masterclasses.
Future Prospects
This is a fixed-term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice's performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.
Salary
£22,900 per annum plus benefits (Scotland).
