The Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We digitally enable education, research, and the running of the university by providing mission-critical information and technology services to over 50,000 staff and students.
Our ambition is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our teams capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.
Within ISD, the Information Security Group (ISG) leads on all aspects of security at UCL. This post is in ISGs Security operations team, which has primary responsibility for security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence.
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity within our information security services team to help support the delivery of a comprehensive set of information security services to the UCL community.
Your key task will be to help maintain and develop a number of security solutions to better support a number of the core university requirements. In tandem, proactively identifying security weaknesses and recommending appropriate strategies to mitigate these.
Additionally, you will be required to support and identify the security capability, requirements and options for meeting these, whilst dealing with our main vendors.
About you
To be considered you must have the following skills & experience:
1. Solid experience of working in an engineering role
2. Hands-on experience with SIEM solutions, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management platforms, and other security technologies
3. In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat landscapes, and attack vectors
4. Experience in writing accurate, well-structured documents and reports aimed at both technical and non-technical audiences
5. Experience in customer care with an ability to interact with customers in a tactful and friendly manner
6. Demonstrable ability to manage problems through to resolution using uncertain and incomplete information
Desirable skills would include:
1. Experience in developing and implementing information security strategy
2. Relevant qualification (GIAC, CISSP, etc.) or equivalent professional experience
3. Commitment to and knowledge of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion
