The Role:
Providing the service to manufacturing operations for; inbound materials, site warehousing, logistics and transport for stock movements and outbound customer deliveries. The role covers raw materials, packaging, finished goods, administration and export. Outbound logistics includes order control, picking and transport arrangements alongside customer liaison where necessary. The role is required to lead the team within the function to ensure product quality, transaction accuracy, customer service and health and safety.
Responsibilities:
* Effective planning of stores and warehousing space to optimise space availability, labour utilisation, safe storage, accurate stock controls and efficient RH&D
* Continually reviewing, embedding and/or establishing procedures for logistics to improve control and accuracy and operational efficiently
* Formalise and implement SOPs and supporting training to maintain and improve ways of working
* Establish KPIs and manage individual and team performance levels through identification of training needs, including allocation of staff resource in line with business needs
* Managing and maintaining legal requirements in health and safety at all times, alongside good housekeeping and good management practices
* Ensure procedures are aligned with customer requirements effectively and accurately
* Integral part of the Sales and Operational Planning team to deliver, develop and improve:
planning, picking and packing procedures aligned to business priorities
control and improved cost effective delivery of goods to customers
control effective despatch and onward distribution of stock to 3rd party/customer warehouses
logistics and supply chain workflows, capacity constraints and customer requirements
* Ensure production areas are clear of packaging and finished goods promptly and packaging requirements are provided when required
* Recommend appropriate packaging specifications and handling systems to minimise damage
* Manage contractual terms & agree KPIs with logistics service providers
* Develop appropriate systems to ensure stock accuracy; monthly location audits and upkeep of system data
* Work with colleagues to develop stock reduction policies
* Assist with resourcing picking/packing/administrative staff for the site
Management
* Direct supervision of stock and logistics routines, procedures and practices
* Safe use of working equipment
* Responsible for effective traceability of all food materials and products that flow through the supply chain including; compliant record keeping, systems and procedures, traceability exercises / audits, training of teams to deputise
* Ensure quality and conformity of food safety controls, escalation of non-conformity, communication of standards within the supply chain and support the agenda of food safety and quality culture
* Development of warehousing and logistics skills through support and training for team development
* Manage individual performance levels & Identification of training needs
* Budget setting and subsequent control of localised spend to keep expenditure within control limits
* Procurement of consumables as relevant / required
Planning
* Key stakeholder in the S&OP process and integral part of the supply chain team to achieve satisfactory customer service
* Communication with operations, planning and director teams to ensure agreement and support for warehouse and logistics work and resources engendering teamwork and optimisation of materials flow
* Resource and allocation of staff in line with business needs
