We have a current opportunity for a Global Mobility and Immigration Adviser on a temporary basis. The position will be based in Abingdon. For further information about this position please apply.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide 360° secondee journey support, including welfare support, immigration advice, advice on relocation allowances, procedures, medical insurance, and social security payments.
2. Advise line managers and employees, liaising with third-party immigration providers, Legal, Finance, Insurance, and Procurement departments.
3. Ensure the organisation remains compliant with immigration practices, researching legal and regulatory requirements with respect to immigration, contractual, social security, taxation, various secondment-related insurances, and GDPR compliance.
4. Manage employee expatriation, onboarding, on assignment, repatriation, and related operational processes.
5. Advise on secondment advertisement process and arrange appropriate publicity of secondment opportunities to encourage participation.
6. Oversee the work of external immigration specialists and advise employees on visas, work permits, insurances, and documentation required for international business travel.
7. Liaise with external immigration specialists to resolve complex immigration scenarios and ensure compliance.
8. Advise on inward immigration to the UK, supporting individuals and organisations through complex visa processes.
9. Identify when taxation issues may need specialist advice and contribute to regular updates with internal tax advisers.
10. Ensure notification to payroll and finance of changes to pay, expenses, taxation, invoicing, and draft individual letters to employees.
11. Maintain a cost sheet for secondment-related costs and audit annually.
12. Monitor and report on client experience internally and with external suppliers to improve services.
13. Propose and implement process improvements and prepare guidance tools for secondments and visitors.
14. Manage the Nucleus Secondment site and support EDI principles.
15. Participate in HR projects as required.
Budget Responsibility:
No direct responsibility for budgets but a good understanding of where the considerable expenses involved in secondments/visits will be charged to is required. Responsible for ensuring all Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and Invoices are correctly charged.
Qualifications/Experience:
Essential:
1. Ability to collaborate with external suppliers, project managers, and cross-departments to deliver overseas projects, ensuring immigration and relocation requirements are met.
2. Passion for customer service and a growth mindset with clear and culturally adaptable communication style.
3. In-depth knowledge of global business visas and UK immigration legislation, or ability to learn.
4. Discreet and confidential approach to sensitive information with a strong understanding of GDPR and data compliance.
5. Understanding of UK employment law concerning right to work and immigration legislation.
6. Able to advise all levels in the organisation on complex business visa routes.
7. Ability to interpret visa routes and international immigration legislation.
8. Interest in researching information on immigration, relocation, and medical insurance internationally.
9. Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite.
10. Excellent planning and organisational skills with attention to detail.
Desirable:
1. Experience in a similar role - HR, Global Mobility, Immigration, commercial or business.
2. HR CIPD Level 5.
3. Project Management of small to medium-sized secondment projects.
