Overview of the role:
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) is responsible for running the UK’s criminal and civil justice systems. This role provides strategic HR partnering to senior leaders in HM Prisons and Probation (HMPPS), critical in ensuring HMPPS meets its aims in protecting the public and reducing reoffending.
The post holder will partner with Governors within the Prison Service and/or equivalent senior leaders within the Probation Service or HQ. As HMPPS undergoes significant transformation, the role may flex as the new organisation evolves.
Working with senior leaders, this role will support the business in delivering against people priorities, facilitating access to central services and executing people initiatives.
Key Delivery Strands:
Change Management:
Support the business with the people elements of change implementation.
Resourcing & Retention:
Understand workforce needs and support in executing interventions to address challenges.
Management & Leadership Capability:
Support the development of leadership teams.
Attendance & Performance:
Assist in handling absence, performance, conduct, and grievance cases.
Employee Experience and Staff Engagement:
Support the implementation of employee engagement interventions.
Inclusion & Well-being:
Ensure diversity and inclusion in all people strategies.
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
• Previous experience in a HR team and awareness of the Civil Service HR operating model.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Strong experience in delivering HR plans and supporting performance optimization.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and apply analytics to business delivery.
Qualifications:
Must have Chartered CIPD Membership or equivalent HR qualification, or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
Security clearance required:
Security clearance will depend on the environment and may include CTC, SC, or DBS.
Location Requirements:
Work base within the region, with travel required.
Office attendance and travel requirements:
Minimum expectation of 40% office attendance.
