What you will do:
1. With the support of the Director of Engineering and Transformation, work closely with the product manager/owners to relentlessly focus on customer outcomes, and Technology Leadership to drive forward technology quality, standards, and innovation.
2. Ensure the technical engineering deliverables produced within the Value Stream are of high quality, and that they adhere to the processes and Engineering best practices and standards.
3. Optimise the flow and delivery of work within a value stream to deliver the agreed strategic and business outcomes.
4. Lead the overall planning and execution of complex solutions across the Feature Teams to meet our customer needs.
5. Line manage Feature Team Technical Leads and Chapter Leads, providing leadership direction, career guidance, and coaching.
6. Establish and maintain relationships with third-party providers where necessary offering direction, support, and ensuring strategic alignment.
7. Ensure technical debt and enablers are captured within the Chapters and Value Streams and these are regularly reviewed and prioritised for delivery.

What you will need:
1. Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank, and all our stakeholders.
2. Experience with processes and Engineering best practices and standards (e.g. quality gates and thresholds, test code coverage, code reviews, etc).
3. Experience with effective technical debt management across multiple feature teams.
4. Experience writing and maintaining large scale, production software in a fast-changing environment with rapid release cycles.
5. Expertise in test-driven development, broader testing, and QA concerns.
6. Experience of project working and professional Agile software development processes.
7. Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)/Scrum at Scale (SoS)/Nexus or any other Agile scaling framework in organisations or function areas.
