The fellow will participate in the general neurosurgical rota (tier 2) on a 1 in 6 basis. They will also be expected to share responsibility for the paediatric neurosurgical patients outside of strict rota commitments. There is a formal training/teaching program for the registrars. Although there will be no obligation for the fellow to participate in this program, it may be to the fellows advantage or to the programs benefit, for him/her to do so from time to time. The paediatric neurosurgical service consists of 5 consultants with a major sub-specialty interest in paediatric neurosurgery, 1 paediatric neurosurgical senior clinical fellow, 1 clinical research fellow, 3 paediatric neurosurgical registrars / registrar equivalent, a paediatric registrar and a paediatric SHO. We are also supported by 5 excellent dedicated Neuro-Paediatricians on-site at Kings and Clinical Nurse Specialists. We also work in extremely close collaboration with our colleagues at the Evelina Childrens Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. The unit is extremely active in translational/clinical research with many opportunities.
