Job Description
The Fleet Engineer will operate within a regional structure and in close conjunction with other regional colleagues to manage all aspects of the repair and maintenance of vehicles, trailers, and equipment operating across all contracts. Reporting to the Head of Fleet, the prime purpose of this role will be to ensure safety and legal compliance with all statutory regulations and company standards, to work within agreed KPI's to deliver improved fleet availability, and to maximise cost reductions based on initial repair estimates. Key responsibilities will include:
* Manage supplier/vendor relationships, conduct compliance audits, ensure corrective actions, and maintain relationships with workshops and OEM suppliers to secure optimal services.
* Produce monthly performance reports on fleet operations and assist in incident investigations.
* Provide technical expertise to support the Maintenance Control Centre, validate repair and maintenance activities, and ensure adherence to standard repair times, parts discounts, and dealer labour rates.
* Adhere to company H&S Policy whilst managing all HSE aspects for vehicles and equipment.
* Understand and ensure compliance with Maintenance, Warranty, Breakdown, and Recovery Policies and Company SLA's by service providers.
* Demonstrate a culture of continuous improvement through monitoring of key performance indicators and management information.
* Carry out compliance audits of Third Party workshops within the respective region in line with an agreed compliance audit schedule.
* The role will include the management of all fleet activity within the dedicated region but may also be assigned to other regions to support colleagues where necessary.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Fleet Engineer will ideally be Essex based and be able to demonstrate the following experience:
* Previous experience working in a service management and/or fleet management position.
* A truck maintenance background within an OEM supplier is preferred.
* Technical qualifications to include either NVQ level 3, City & Guilds level 1,2,3 or BTEC equivalent.
* Hold a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
* Strong planning and administrative skills.
* Conversant with Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
