An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Finance Manager to join our excellent finance team at our headquarters building at NAViGO House, Brighowgate, Grimsby.
The post holder will provide a key role to a diverse range of services including a Garden Centre. We welcome applications from all sectors, both NHS and Non-NHS.
You will be AAT qualified and have worked in a finance/accountancy environment for at least 3 years. You will have demonstrable IT skills, with an excellent working knowledge of Excel. A team player with exceptional communication skills, you will be at ease liaising with people from all levels of the organisation. Primarily you will be responsible for monitoring a portfolio of budgets, along with various day-to-day and month-end accounting tasks, all within strict timescales. Main duties of the job
Provide an effective, high-quality Financial Management service to managers and clinicians and contribute to the financial stewardship of the organisation as a whole by ensuring deadlines are met, procedures are up to date and Standing Financial Instructions are adhered to. Provide monthly budget reports, support complex financial analyses, investigate queries and advise managers on issues relating to their service to enable them to plan, monitor and control the services within available resources.
The post holder will have scheduled meetings with budget holders either face to face or using Teams and may occasionally be required to travel to various locations within North East Lincolnshire.
Ensure that all aspects of the financial accounting duties are completed to a high professional standard, within agreed time-scales, enabling the organisation to meet its statutory financial and other reporting deadlines.

Job responsibilities
1. Providing day-to-day routine support/advice to Budget Holders, including regular meetings which may include the discussion and resolution of complex and routine financial issues.
2. Preparation of monthly system accruals and prepayments; calculation of estimated accruals; inputting corrective journals and production of the monthly budget monitoring report for their portfolio of cost centres, adhering to strict month-end timetable.
3. Reviewing budget monitoring data and identifying and explaining variances adhering to the monthly timetable and reporting to the Senior Management Accountant.
4. Compiling action plans agreed with budget holders to address variance and submitting these to Senior Management Accountant.
5. Assisting in the development and improvement of the budget monitoring system; using a comprehensive knowledge of Excel and report writing facility via Access Financials.
6. Monthly pay budget variance analysis to identify miscodes and changes in a timely manner. Liaising with HR colleagues where necessary.
7. Supporting recruitment within budget portfolio by performing checks upon receipt of a vacancy notification and confirming such with budget holder in a timely manner.
8. Assisting the Senior Management Accountant in the setting of budgets in line with the organisation's approved Budget Setting Policy, for which they are the nominated finance representative, including discussions and agreement with budget holders.
9. Responsible for advising budget holders on the re-profiling of budgets within a cost centre: remaining strictly within a given budget envelope and submitting such realignments for approval by the Senior Management Accountant, as part of the annual Budget Process.
10. Responsible for resolving any issues/pressures identified in accordance with policies and procedures: where this is not possible, to escalate the issue to the Senior Management Accountant.
11. Complete various monthly reconciliations as required in accordance with the month-end timetable.
12. Ensure all procedure notes are up to date within relevant work area.
13. Regularly review work processes, identifying ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
14. Undertake routine accounting tasks on the finance system, such as inputting journals, setting up ledger codes within agreed coding structure, ledger enquiries, running ad-hoc reports etc.
15. Participate in and provide information for statutory statistical and financial returns as requested by the Senior Management Accountant.
16. To provide training where necessary to a designated portfolio of budget holders for issues such as, budget holder responsibility, coding of invoices, utilising Access Financials dashboard, VAT basics etc.
17. Be able to demonstrate own area of work to new finance staff and other colleagues.
18. Assist Senior Management Accountant in complex and confidential issues such as costing of restructures, service redesign or tendering for new areas of work.
19. Required to have detailed knowledge and understanding of accounting policies and procedures of the organisation.
20. Ad-hoc duties as required to meet the exigencies of the service.
