Are you a respiratory paediatric physiotherapist looking for an exciting new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for an experienced respiratory paediatric physiotherapist to join the Paediatric Therapy Team to provide respiratory care to our non-admitted patients in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The role will involve holding an individual outpatient caseload of respiratory patients as well as supporting respiratory specialties by attending clinics and MDTs as required. This post joins our Outpatient Group of MSK, Rheumatology, CEW, CF, Difficult Asthma and PCD and makes possible a smaller group of respiratory outpatient specialties, which will support each other and work together to ensure high quality care and staff development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, highly experienced and competent Respiratory Paediatric Physiotherapist with a commitment to patient focused care, maintaining their CPD/ specialist skills and who can work flexibly which may include evenings and weekends as necessary.
You will continue to develop and evaluate your role to ensure that patients are provided with high quality and appropriate evidence-based care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
1. To be responsible for the provision of paediatric respiratory outpatient physiotherapy within the Therapy Department and support the team leader in the maintenance of the corresponding waiting list.
2. To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a complex, paediatric caseload of children (0-15yrs, or 18yrs with special needs) using enhanced clinical decision-making skills.
3. Experience in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of children's respiratory disorders is essential.
4. The respiratory specialties operate from UHL sites as well as from other locations across the LLR system, e.g. Loughborough, and travel will be required between these sites to support physiotherapy provision to these teams.
Job responsibilities
1. The role will support provision and development of paediatric respiratory outpatient physiotherapy, a service which has previously not existed.
2. The role will also support other respiratory specialisms, for example but not limited to non CF Bronchiectasis and general respiratory.
3. The post holder will contribute to clinics and multi-disciplinary meetings as required.
4. UHL Therapy service provides key therapeutic assessments and interventions to patients in order to promote health and independence and facilitate optimum function for patients.
5. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of high quality therapy care within a defined clinical area or pathway within the specialty.
