We are looking for an experienced Data Librarian to lead the University of Bath’s highly-respected Research Data team.
As an eager and motivated individual, you will be responsible for the strategic direction of the University’s research data management service, ensuring that institutional policies and processes meet growing requirements for open data.
You will have excellent communication skills and management experience, leading a small team of subject-matter experts. Your expertise in data management will allow you to collaborate both within the Library and with colleagues across the University, providing expert advice to key stakeholders on the research community’s data requirements and the Library’s support in this area.
We are looking for someone with experience in:
1. Team leadership
2. Managing sensitive data
3. Overseeing development of technical systems
Experience of data curation and familiarity with the research data lifecycle is essential, as is a strong understanding of both the research environment within Higher Education and developments in the sector relating to research data management. You will be proactive in identifying areas of service development, and in helping colleagues to prioritise their work to enhance the service.
This rewarding role provides valued support for researchers and students. We are looking for someone who is credible, confident, and adept, and can respond effectively to academic challenge to provide a highly relevant and trusted service. You will also help us to run a secure research environment for remote access to restricted datasets, for which you will require a basic DBS check.
You will join a dedicated, professional team of Library staff committed to the ongoing development of services to support the University’s strategy: to deliver world-class research and teaching, educating our students to become future leaders and innovators, and benefiting the wider population through our research, enterprise and influence. We understand the importance of continued professional development for all Library staff in order to achieve this.
