Kind Support is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team at the UK's leading providers of mental health services in the acute mixed ward.
The hospital provides acute adult mental health services, delivered in partnership with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust. After two years of successfully providing services for women, they opened a second service in May on behalf of the Trust, for male patients and are about to open a brand new PICU service.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be medically responsible for patients and will be the Responsible Clinician for all detained inpatients (MHA 1983). You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will participate in weekly MDT meetings, where all key decisions will be made regarding care and treatment. You will support, mentor, and train the Specialty Doctor working under your clinical supervision, ensuring that the list of duties is completed by a suitably qualified doctor. In their absence, this responsibility will fall to the overseeing Consultant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care to the 10-bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for females of working age.
2. Manage patients experiencing severe phases of mental health illness using current best practices to promote recovery.
3. Collaborate with psychologists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver individualized care packages.
4. Support the management of behaviors that lead to distress, utilizing positive behavioral support planning.
5. Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and treatment reviews.
6. Ensure continuity of care, working collaboratively with family/carers and local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).
7. Supervise and support an experienced Specialty Doctor.
8. Participate in the hospital's on-call rota and provide out-of-hours psychiatric care as needed.
9. Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date patient records in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
2. Full registration with the GMC (General Medical Council).
3. CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry or equivalent.
4. Approved clinician status and section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
5. Experience working in PICU or acute mental health settings is desirable.
6. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
8. Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical excellence.
