Sports Coach (SEN Setting)

Salary: £83.33 - £90 per day

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Coach to work within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a PE or Sports background to make a real impact in the lives of young learners with additional needs. We’re looking for an individual who is passionate about using sports as a tool for engagement, development, and inclusion.
About the Role: As a Sports Coach in an SEN setting, you’ll work closely with students with a variety of additional needs, helping them develop not only physical skills but also confidence, social abilities, and emotional well-being. You will collaborate with teachers and support staff to design and implement inclusive physical education activities tailored to each student’s unique requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver sports and physical education activities tailored to students with SEN, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Work with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting activities to meet each individual’s abilities and needs.
Support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, using sports as a medium for engagement and personal development.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and SEN staff to align physical activities with broader educational goals.
Encourage participation, teamwork, and positive attitudes among students, building their confidence and interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
A background in PE, sports coaching, or physical education is essential.
Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with young people with additional needs is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to adapt coaching techniques to suit individual needs.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS on the update service.
