Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our award-winning team. They should have excellent communication skills and be committed and passionate about supporting people in contact with mental health services to progress into employment, vocational training or further education.
Main duties of the job
1. To work with service users in a person-centred way to identify vocational goals and support them to achieve those goals e.g. employment, vocational training or further education.
2. To provide support for service users carrying out the carpet cleaning work including working with the team when required.
3. Work in partnership with other vocational providers e.g. Vocation Matters, IPS services and provide employment support e.g. help with CVs, Job Applications, interview practice and provide essential digital skills support.
4. Support individuals with financial matters such as grant funding, accessing government grants and signposting to welfare benefit support.
Working for our organisation
Clean and Care is an award-winning supported employment work training project that operates within the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. We help people gain work skills and increase employability through paid work. The project provides a professional carpet cleaning service to a variety of clients including Lambeth Council and the NHS.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To offer comprehensive assistance and support to service users who wish to access further education courses, vocational training and employment.
2. To provide on-site support for service users carrying out the carpet cleaning work including working with the team when required.
3. To support service users to construct a meaningful action plan.
4. Work in partnership with other vocational providers e.g. Vocation Matters, IPS services and provide employment support e.g. help with CVs, Job Applications, interview practice and provide essential digital skills support.
5. To help service users to progress into permanent paid employment and offer Job Retention Support where required.
6. Research the most appropriate courses for individuals, providing choice and options according to need.
7. Assist service users in helping them to disclose their health needs to prospective employers and colleges and ensure that reasonable adjustments are implemented.
8. To record all information accurately on vocational databases on a daily basis.
Person specification
Experience
* Experience of working with individuals with mental health needs or other excluded populations within health, social care, education/training or the voluntary sector.
Qualifications
* Good basic level of education with at least 5 GCSE grades A to C (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics, or relevant qualifications at NVQ level 3 or relevant industry experience.
