Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge in a supportive and well-structured team? Dorset Council’s Fostering Assessment Team is expanding, and we are seeking a dedicated Fostering Social Worker to join us.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, dynamic, and supportive environment where flexible working hours and regular supervision are provided. You will be working with a team of around 30 professionals, contributing to the recruitment, assessment, and support of foster carers and kinship carers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Complete kinship (fostering/SGO) assessments from start to completion (3-4 months).
* Conduct mainstream fostering assessments and provide post-approval support.
* Undertake Kinship Assessments, including Reg 24, Fostering, and Special Guardianship.
* Carry out Supported Lodgings assessments and support.
* Support Staying Put arrangements and contribute to the Mockingbird model.
* Plan and manage your own diary effectively.
* Participate in monthly full team meetings and assessment team meetings.
* Take part in the duty rota as required.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent)
2. SWE Registered
3. Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience in the UK
4. Experience in Fostering and Special Guardianship (SG) assessments
5. Familiarity with CoramBAAF forms
6. Experience in assessing Kinship Carers (Fostering & Special Guardianship)
7. Experience in post-approval fostering support
8. Ability to fulfil travel requirements of the role
9. Enhanced DBS check (Children & Adults) – we can obtain this for you
