Position Description
Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Director of the Oakes Museum with conducting tours for school and public groups on an on-call basis.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree
Education Preferred
Additional teacher certification and/or background in biology or environmental science
Experience Required
Minimum of three years experience working with children
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position
* Ability to assimilate a great deal of information
* Ability to enthusiastically communicate information to children and/or adults
* Strong critical thinking and questioning skills
Special Working Conditions
* Ability to walk outside for 3-1/2 hours per work day
Duties
Primary Duties
* Assist the museum staff in giving tours to schools and public groups on an on-call basis.
* Teach in Curator Club, CC2, summer camps, and other museum programming.
* Work as a docent/front desk during museum public hours on Saturdays.
* Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties
* Other duties as assigned.
