Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton. We are looking for a dynamic, confident and conscientious Specialist Biomedical Scientist who will assist in the delivery of point of care testing, both within the Trust and in the community. The post holder will help to provide an efficient, cost effective and timely support service to equipment users across our sites. The post holder is accountable to the POCT Coordinator for the satisfactory performance of their duties. You are expected to work as a team to deliver point of care services across our sites. Duties include but not limited to supporting the POCT Coordinator in the provision of the POCT service, including supervising staff and deputising for the POCT Coordinator when necessary maintaining the quality, training, health and safety, risk management and clinical governance of the POCT service communicating with all users of POCT equipment including delivering training, problem solving and sign posting demonstrating polite, courteous behaviour and maintaining good customer relations providing scientific and technical guidance and training on the safe and appropriate use and procurement of POCT equipment for all personnel verification and validation of new POCT devices to ensure their analytical performance meets the clinical need and quality standards undertaking planned and preventative maintenance of POCT devices to ensure correct function of equipment, recording of errors or problems and troubleshooting where appropriate commitment to learning and continued personal development About us At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First.
