An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and fast-growing team as an Improvement and Innovation Data Analyst within the Public Health Wales Improvement and Innovation (I&I) Hub.
Public Health Wales I&I Hub was set up in summer 2022 to provide Public Health Wales with a defined and strategic approach to enable sustainable continuous improvement and innovation.

Main duties of the job
1. Employ effective analytical techniques to support improvement and measure the impact of change.
2. Provide improvement support to the wider team to help understand the current situation and use evidence to identify specific areas that would benefit from improvement activities.
3. Develop bespoke data collection tools in cases where data does not currently exist.

Job responsibilities
The Data Analyst role is based within a busy, high-volume, and dynamic team, ideal for an individual with strong analytical skills and a passion for using data to drive improvement. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful insight, support the implementation of initiatives, and measure their impact.
Reporting to the I&I Hub Senior Manager, you will collect, analyse, and interpret complex data to identify opportunities for improvement. Skilled in developing bespoke data collection tools and applying statistical techniques, you will present findings clearly to inform decisions.
Your role will be integral to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within Public Health Wales, using data-driven insights to support strategic initiatives and enhance public health services.
The position is based at Public Health Wales offices, with current working conditions supporting agile working.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, business administration, statistics).
* Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Experience
* Experience in data analysis and project management.
* Proven track record of leading improvement projects.
* Experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills and Attributes
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R).
* Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of our workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role.
* Ability to facilitate workshops and training sessions.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable at level 1.
