What you'll be doing
The role of the programme lead is to ensure that each of our programmes deliver a high-quality teaching and learning experience, using up-to-date, relevant, and engaging content, positioning the BPP Education Group as a market leader in the Technical Training space.
The role will focus on reviewing the programme holistically, so that it operates as an Apprenticeship and not as a series of individual modules. As Programme Lead, you will be responsible for not only ensuring the technical modules are fit for purpose, but also looking at our Apprenticeship assessment strategy, instructing the coaches on best practice to boost the chances of all our learners achieving on time, first time.
The role will operate in conjunction with the established operating and delivery platforms but will pay particular attention to the following:
* Ensuring best-in-class, up-to-date materials are prepared which meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship standard, but also reflect emerging technologies.
* Supporting with Onboarding and Inductions, ensuring that the right learners are being recruited onto the right programmes and bringing the programme to life at induction sessions.
* Ensuring the programme works as an Apprenticeship; reviewing how the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours not covered through Technical learning are addressed through our delivery, adding value to the whole student experience.
* Using data from a range of sources to continually enhance the experience and drive performance in conjunction with the Head of Student Experience and fellow Programme Leads.
* Meeting the needs of our growing client base, ensuring programmes can be adapted where necessary to meet their individual requirements (working with the Head of Programme Implementation).
Key Responsibilities:
To take full ownership of each programme by:
Teaching and Delivery
* Leading and supporting the tutors and coaches delivering the programme, ensuring they understand what is being delivered but also listening to their feedback on where improvements can be made – as a minimum host a quarterly (preferably monthly) tutor/coach feedback session to review how the programme is performing.
* Ensure all teaching modules are consistent and co-ordinated so that our apprentices have a cohesive learning experience.
* Utilising data dashboards to monitor performance on the programme and implement interventions as necessary to address any areas of concern.
* Ensure the programme is delivered as an Apprenticeship and the content of modules is aligned to workplace development and meets the requirements of the relevant Apprenticeship Standard and Assessment Plan.
* Liaise with the Resourcing team to ensure all modules on the programmes are scheduled correctly.
* Take ownership for the content of Inductions to be delivered on the Apprenticeship and where possible, be present at the delivery of each Induction.
* Assist with the preparation of learners for End Point Assessment including creating resources to help learners prepare and pass (with stretch and challenge materials for those aiming for merits and distinctions).
Development
* Overseeing the development of any new modules required to keep the programme up to date and relevant through setting clear objectives and milestones (NB. The Programme Lead is not expected to carry out all development work themselves).
* To carry out, on a quarterly basis, a complete review of the performance of the programme working with Quality Leads and Subject Specialists, deciding on where new content is needed or, where a complete programme overhaul is necessary (or where the standard is updated by IFATE).
* To work closely with other Programme or Awards Leads to ensure that the programme is consistent with others being delivered in the Data space, to ensure all programmes from L3 to L7 are demonstrating progression and Tools and Theories being taught are consistent with those of other Data programmes.
Student Performance
* Support student recruitment activity for your programme deciding on whether students are suitable for the programme.
* Utilising data dashboards, monitor performance and implement interventions as necessary to ensure we retain excellent student pass rates.
* To work with the Head of Students to identify which student-facing activities (e.g. induction slots, SSLCs) you should be attending including collaborating on student (or client) facing events.
Client Management
* Attend client meetings as necessary for key clients to discuss, as examples, Academic Performance or Assessments.
* Liaise with key clients where needed where there will be key changes to the programme.
* Deal with client complaints as necessary when they relate to the content of the programme.
* Working with the Head of Programme Implementation, to support and lead on bespoke programme development for key clients, where they want a different version of the programme.
Quality and Assessments
* Undertake appropriate quality assurance tasks in line with Quality Assurance guidelines (e.g. observations, materials audit, assessment and feedback review).
* To take an active role in the planning for and attendance at any Internal or External Quality Reviews such as OFSTED, ESFA etc…
* To prepare and maintain programme ‘health checks’ to be updated each quarter as a minimum, showing key performance metrics and areas for improvement.
* Deliver appropriate training/updates on programmes as required across the University and the wider BPP group.
Role Requirements
* Recent and relevant experience of working in the field of Machine Learning/AI.
* Excellent stakeholder management; facilitating productive working group sessions.
* Ability to listen to and act on feedback.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Confidence to work with clients and students.
* Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, dealing with change.
* Passion for developing fantastic programmes that achieve outstanding outcomes.
* Knowledge and understanding of Apprenticeships.
* Teaching Machine Learning/AI preferably on Apprenticeships.
* Experience of OFSTED.
* Experience of content development for training purposes.
