Deputy Head Teacher for Federation EYFS

£60644.00 - £66919.00 FTE
Full time - Permanent position (would consider 0.8 salary pro rata)
Required from 1st September 2025
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Federation as EYFS lead. The post holder will lead The Orchards Nursery school on a day to day basis, under the direction of The Executive Head Teacher. They will also lead Cherry Tree Primary School’s Reception classes, and work closely with the EYFS team at Green Fold Special School.
The main priorities of the role are to:
1. Support the Executive Head Teacher in the development of a first-class learning environment that encompasses the key requirements of the EYFS.
2. Support the Executive Head Teacher in reviewing and implementing the Early Years curriculum, policies and initiatives within all settings.
3. Cover PPA in Nursery and Reception classes.
4. Monitor and evaluate teaching & learning in Early Years across all settings.
5. Seek opportunities for inter-school collaboration and moderation.
Education, knowledge, training and qualifications
1. Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS.
2. An outstanding Early Years practitioner with proven impact in this area.
3. At least 2 years Senior Leadership experience, including line managing staff.
4. Working knowledge of the National Curriculum of England including EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
5. Knowledge and understanding of child development and its impact on behaviour.
6. Experience in leading on SEND.
7. Experience in leading on Safeguarding.

3. Ability to monitor the work of others and provide effective and credible feedback leading to improvement.

6. Demonstrate empathy, humility and genuine care about staff and children, taking time to support, guide and motivate them.
This is an exciting time to be joining us, with a new EYFS building due to be opened in January 2026. Working within the Federation with the experience and expertise of a Primary School, Special School and Nursery School provides great opportunities for collaboration.
