Trainee Clinical Endoscopist Band 25 hours per week
We are keen to offer an opportunity for a new trainee clinical endoscopist to join our committed and growing service. This is a part time post to train initially in upper GI endoscopy. This is open to registered nurses, physicians associates or other allied healthcare professional. The successful applicant will be required to complete the academic qualifications for the clinical endoscopist programmes as well as their practical training. We can offer you excellent opportunities to develop your skills and expand your practices with a very supportive clinical and specialist nursing team.
Based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle during the period of training, but with the requirement to travel to provide cross site cover at the West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven. Once trained you will be acting as an independent practitioner using advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat and prescribe plans of care in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
The post is open to those currently employed within the trust and we are willing to consider those wishing to undertake this role as a shared working opportunity however this post will require a high degree of flexibility to enable the post holder to access sessions on varying days and sites as they are available so fixed working patterns may not always be possible.
Main duties of the job
The service provides complete care for patients with disorders relating to the gastrointestinal tract. Surgeons, physicians, specialist nurses and allied health professions work closely together to provide in house multidisciplinary care for all patients with gastrointestinal problems both in the emergency, electives inpatient and outpatient setting.
1. Provide high quality, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services
2. Consistently meet maximum waiting time targets for suspected cancer patients, routine diagnostics and patients requiring further planned/surveillance procedures
3. Provide urgent access to inpatients for endoscopy procedures as appropriate
