Job Description:
The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support students with special educational needs (SEN) or additional learning needs in a secondary school setting. The role involves assisting students in accessing the curriculum, fostering independence, and promoting a positive learning environment. Duties may include one-to-one support, small group work, and general classroom assistance to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students with SEN or additional needs in the classroom.
* Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
* Provide emotional and behavioral support as needed.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and parents to monitor progress.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with young people or SEN (preferred).
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Passion for education and working with young people.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent).
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
* Commitment to safeguarding children.
Desirable:
* Experience in schools or with young people.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate).
* Experience with SEN or EAL students.
* Basic IT skills.
