About The Role
As an Assistant Production Grower, you’ll combine hands-on plant care with team leadership, working closely with the Head Grower to manage crops and staff. This highly dynamic role requires adaptability, a passion for plants, and the ability to inspire and lead a team.
What You’ll Do
1. Nurture Plant Growth: Oversee plant care, including irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and pest management, to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
2. Monitor Crop Health: Scout crops daily, identify pests, diseases, or deficiencies, and apply solutions effectively.
3. Manage Labor: Assist the Head Grower in coordinating, supervising, and motivating the team to meet daily and seasonal goals.
4. Train and Mentor Staff: Teach team members horticultural best practices and help them grow their skills in plant care and production.
5. Adapt to Seasonal Demands: Flexibly support other sections and tackle diverse tasks, from propagation and potting to shipping and inventory, as seasons change.
6. Utilize IPM Strategies: Maintain a healthy growing environment by implementing Integrated Pest Management techniques.
7. Execute Crop Plans: Work with the Head Grower to align production schedules with sales, shipping, and inventory needs.
8. Maintain Systems: Operate and troubleshoot greenhouse equipment, including irrigation systems and climate controls, ensuring peak efficiency.
9. Champion Innovation: Participate in trials for new plant varieties, gathering data to refine growing practices.

Qualifications
1. Education: College/Technical Training or Trades Certificate.
2. Skills & Professional Training: Driver's License - G.
Key Qualifications
1. Horticultural Expertise: A diploma or equivalent in Horticulture or Agriculture, with 2+ years of proven hands-on growing experience in nurseries, greenhouses, or similar environments.
2. Leadership Skills: Experience managing or supervising teams in a horticultural setting, with a knack for motivating and mentoring staff.
3. Plant Health Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant nutrition, pest and disease management, and crop production.
4. Flexibility & Adaptability: Willingness to pivot between tasks and support multiple sections based on seasonal needs.
5. Problem-Solving Mindset: Proactive in identifying and addressing crop or labor challenges.
6. Physical Stamina: Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied weather conditions, including evenings and weekends as needed.
7. Tech Savvy: Comfortable using technology to manage schedules, track data, and optimize efficiency.
8. Team-Oriented: A collaborative spirit with a focus on contributing to the team’s success and fostering a positive work environment.
