Elderly and General Medicine Occupational Therapist
Band 6
The Elderly Medicine Therapy team at Royal Derby Hospital is recruiting to a Band 6 post to work across the Elderly and General Medicine wards.
The post holder will join an established, vibrant team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and assistant staff who work closely together to provide a consistent and responsive Therapy service.
You will be required to carry a caseload independently and provide supervision and support to assist more junior OT staff as necessary.
You must be adaptable, calm, and able to effectively delegate work to OT and assistant staff within the team to ensure priorities across the service are covered. This will involve working closely with the other senior OT’s and Physiotherapists to ensure optimum service delivery.
You will have experience in working in Elderly and General Medicine and will be expected to play an active role in the development of the service.
Main duties of the job
Prior experience as a senior OT is not essential if you have gained relevant skills as a Band 5 and have a passion for the area.
You will enhance clinical skills and knowledge working with a variety of patients, providing advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment and providing specialist advice and support to other professionals throughout the Trust.
Excellent problem-solving skills are a must to ensure strength-based, holistic, and patient-centered quality care.
Experience in managing complex discharges in a fast-paced acute hospital environment is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and Therapy team.

* Degree or Equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
* Member of RCOT or equivalent
Knowledge
* Experience in collecting data/participating in audits
