The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a dedicated Waste & Resources Manager to join our team working on the Sizewell C (SZC) project. This role will be essential in leading waste management initiatives and ensuring compliance with environmental standards, while contributing to a sustainable future for energy production.
About the Role:
As the Waste & Resources Manager, you will be at the forefront of waste reporting and management for the SZC project. Your primary responsibility will be to support and advise operational teams, ensuring that all construction works comply with SZC's stringent waste management requirements and legal standards. You will lead the development and implementation of waste minimization and circular economy initiatives, collaborating with various stakeholders including the client, designers, and third parties to share best practices and drive environmental innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand and advise on legal and client waste management requirements, ensuring project teams are informed and compliant.
Develop, review, and update Waste and Resource Management Plans as necessary.
Lead reuse, waste minimization, and circular economy initiatives on-site.
Provide specialist support on waste consenting activities, liaising with the client and attending relevant meetings.
Support the commercial team on waste-related scope changes and formal communications with the client.
Promote and manage Environmental and Sustainability initiatives and innovations.
Conduct compliance inspections and audits, and provide regular updates to the Delivery Leadership Team on KPI targets.
Enhance the skills and knowledge of project teams through Environmental and Sustainability training initiatives.
What We Are Looking For:
Membership in an appropriate environmental professional body.
Thorough understanding of waste management, sustainable use of materials, and environmental legislation.
Proven experience in managing waste risks and their impacts on time, cost, and reputation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organizational skills.
Desirable:
Experience managing environmental issues on complex construction projects.
Experience coordinating the work of others.
