Finance Assistant Location: Brighton Salary: £12.21 per hour Brighton College are seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant on a fixed-term placement for one year, with the possibility of an extension to the contract or a permanent position, starting in August 2025. Main Purpose of the Role: To assist with the efficient running of the Finance department. General Duties and Responsibilities Monitoring of accounts and credit card mailboxes, whilst dealing with incoming queries. Support the month end process, including journals and recharges Performing monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts. Budget holder administration. Assisting the Management Accountant with utility accrual calculations (including data entering). Assist with the Purchase Ledger. Banking tasks; cash counting and paying in (catering & charity). Assist the Credit Controller with posting of incoming payments and issuing receipts. Assisting with year-end audit. Bill run assistance (to include inputting of charges, checking of bills, deposit refund process, taxi recharges). Trip management: set up trip codes and ensure back up documents in place, monthly reconciliations are completed and manage trip floats. Any other reasonable management requests. Person Specifications The successful candidate will have: Excellent communication skills Good time management skills. The ability to work both alone and in a team. A polite, friendly and helpful attitude. Positive collaboration, with an ability to bring out the best in those around them. An infectious "can do" attitude. Be proficient in working with ICT in a professional environment, including good typing skills. A strong working knowledge of Word and Excel (essential). Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (37.5 hours per week). Remuneration The rate of pay for this role will be £12.21 per hour. Holidays 23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
