GSL Education are ecstatic to offer an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant (TA) in Lincoln who has a healthcare or support worker background and is eager to work with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in care settings, mental health support, social work, or working with neurodivergent individuals.
About the role:
As an Autism Teaching Assistant (TA), you will provide personalised care and support to students with autism. This role allows you to make a positive impact on their well-being and overall development as they follow their educational health care plans. Your role will involve working closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of each student.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:
* Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
* Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support the unique needs of students with ASD, fostering their academic and social development.
* Assist teachers in creating and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and other relevant professionals.
* Collaborate with the wider school team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
* Promote understanding and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder within the school community, contributing to a supportive and inclusive ethos.
The Successful Candidate Will:
* Previous experience in healthcare, social care, or support work (e.g., mental health worker, care assistant, support worker, youth worker).
* Understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), neurodiversity, sensory processing and communication strategies.
* Experience working with individuals with SEN, SEMH, ADHD and behavioural challenges is beneficial.
* Ability to use calm, structured and empathetic approaches when supporting students with anxiety or behavioural needs.
* Strong resilience, patience and ability to build positive relationships with neurodivergent learners.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices in supporting autistic students.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
