Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker Location: Bradford Contract Type: Short and Long Term Pay: £90 - £110 Leader Education is currently recruiting for a Pastoral Support Assistant for SEMH specialist schools based in Bradford. This specialist school provides education and support for pupils aged 5 - 16. Pupils are children who have Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, but may also have additional SEN needs. The school's aim is to provide the best possible care and education for these pupils, with a focus on academic progression and vocational learning. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with children with additional needs in an educational and/or pastoral setting. The job: Building a strong relationship with pupils to create a welcoming, safe, warm learning environment which supports and empowers Assisting in the retaining of pupils in their programmes of study by working closely with pupils and teachers to enhance attendance Working with pupils and teachers to provide interventions when necessary to improve further engagement To support and encourage pupils in overcoming barriers to learning Providing effective care and guidance for those with SEMH, additional SEN needs and safeguarding issues Upholding and promoting positive behaviour for learning and dealing with issues that arise quickly and effectively, liaising with the wider support system when necessary Liaising with outside agencies to ensure the best provision for pupils, including compiling reports when required. You: Have previous experience in working with children with SEMH needs Will be patient, nurturing, resilient and empathetic to student's individual needs Will have a forward thinking and open-minded outlook Have the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with the child/children that you work with Have a passion for helping and guiding children with their academic progression Are a motivated and enthusiastic person with great communication skills Will ideally be Team Teach trained but not essential - free training is available Able to work effectively as part of a team but can also work independently using their own initiative.
