Following a very successful 2024, AtkinsRéalis is looking for a talented Principal Electrical Engineer to lead and support a variety of exciting projects, including Hinkley Point C (HPC), Sizewell C (SZC), Small Modular Reactors (SMR), and defence-based work. You'll be joining a friendly and rapidly growing Integrated Engineering Solutions (IES) team within the Power New Build part of our business. This team specializes in supporting the delivery of nuclear new build projects for major operators in the nuclear sector. Additionally, you will work on advanced technologies for fusion power stations, including ITER and T1E, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions in the nuclear energy sector. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert consultancy services to our clients. This includes and is limited to:
1. Leading the development and review of electrical system designs, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
2. Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments to identify optimal solutions for electrical systems.
3. Preparing detailed specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
4. Providing technical guidance and support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.
5. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
6. Collaborating with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.
7. Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to provide innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design, optioneering, evaluation, and assessment of electrical systems, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards.
2. Oversee and coordinate multi-disciplinary designs, collaborating closely with Mechanical, Process, and Civil/Structural engineers.
3. Provide strategic direction and technical leadership on complex projects, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion.
4. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
5. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
6. Lead a team internally as a line manager, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
7. Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices and project delivery.
8. Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
9. Conduct technical reviews and provide expert advice on complex engineering issues.
10. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a safety-first culture within the team.
11. Represent AtkinsRéalis at industry conferences and events, promoting the company's expertise and capabilities.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in electrical/electronic engineering, mechatronics, building services, or engineering mathematics.
2. 15+ years of extensive experience in electrical engineering within the nuclear or energy sector.
3. Proven track record of leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
4. Strong leadership and team management skills.
5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and resilience in overcoming project challenges.
6. Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
