Berkshire CommunityDental Service is looking for aDentalAdministrativeAssistanttoprocessdental referrals which are received electronically and in the post. The successful applicant willbe methodical with a keen eye for detail. The post hold willliaise directly withdental staff,patients or their representative, book and change appointments andsoshould have excellent verbaland writtencommunication skills. They should also have excellent IT skills, as this will be an integral part of their role. The post holder will also provideotheradministrative support as necessary to theCommunity Dental Service.
We are looking for someonewith experienceofadministration, ideally within the NHS. You will need to liaise withthe dental clinics and clinicians, patients of all agesor their representative,and other departments within BHFT.The applicant must be flexible and a good team player.
The service provides dental care to people who are unable to access dentistry in general dental practice due to disability or requirement for specialist care. As the service is provided over many sites, the ability to travel to other Trust sites is essential.
1. Responsibility for theprocessing of all referrals to the CDS including assessment of the referral, inputting of data,obtainingadditionalinformation,compiling new patient records onto the clinical records system andforwardingto the relevant Community Dental Clinics ina timelyfashion.
1. Tobe responsible forthe processing ofenquiries,lettersand reports.
1. To record, collate and present service activity reports, auditsand surveysasrequired.
1. To dealappropriatelywith theingoing and outgoingposton a daily basisensuring that all letters are recorded,processedand/or redirected quickly and efficiently.
1. To respond to mail, telephone calls and emails to theCDSHQin boxensuringaccuraterecording and transmission of messages,taking suitable action to ensure that enquiries are directed to theappropriate membersof staff and undertaking delegatedactionas necessary.
1. To deal with all enquires by telephone in a calm, sympathetic/empathic way,assistpatients in an understanding manner especially where there are barriers to understandinge.g.language, poor hearing or if the caller is distressed or aggressive.
1. To take responsibility for cascading information throughout the service asrequired.
