Ainslie ward at Torbay Hospital is recruiting for part-time Registered Nurses to join our fast-paced Trauma and Orthopaedic ward to provide the highest achievable standard of care following the patients' assessment of needs.
As a Registered Nurse with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, you will be working together as part of a multidisciplinary professional team to assess care needs, and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
We are a 26-bedded trauma ward that provides you with the opportunity to work alongside our Multi-disciplinary teams to provide the highest standard of care to patients who often require surgery due to a wide range of injuries. You will work effectively and without direct supervision alongside Registered Nurses/Practitioners within the ward as required on a daily basis.
In your role, you will be supported with your development needs both from in-house training and also from external courses whilst having regular supervision and appraisal to ensure you are helped to reach your maximum potential and development.
Part-time - 23 hours permanent position (covering Days & Nights)
* Providing, managing and coordinating your allocated patients' care needs
* Liaising and communicating with your patients' next of kin, family, and carers
* Supporting, mentoring students
* Administering oral/IV medications
* Admitting, carrying out assessments and discharges
* Wound care
* Observations
* Communicating efficiently and professionally both verbally and in writing, updating and involving your surrounding team with changes occurring throughout your shift
* Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team
The team is made up of a Senior Sister, Junior Sisters, Trauma Coordinators, Band 5 Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, and Health Care Assistants. We are also proud to have ward-based Hotel Services and two Housekeepers, all of whom work well together providing the team spirit we enjoy and feel safe with.
