Senior Architect (London Market experience required)
We are seeking a Senior Architect (Technical Consultant) to focus on our customers and prospects from the London Market as part of our Guidewire Professional Services team.
This team combines expertise in insurance with software implementation skills to lead strategic transformative projects for our customers. The Guidewire Professional Services organization includes business analysts and technical consultants who collaborate to help customers and SI vendors implement Guidewire applications at customer sites. Our projects are complex and can last from three months to two years, depending on specific customer requirements. During a project, the team will identify customer business requirements, leverage out-of-the-box (OOTB) capabilities coupled with configuration to meet those requirements, and integrate the Guidewire application with other internal or external systems. Guidewire applications are highly configurable to the requirements of each customer and require a thorough understanding of the customers objectives and requirements.
Guidewire is the most comprehensive and extensible platform for the London Market, enabling insurers and reinsurers to improve business outcomes with end-to-end underwriting, streamlined claims management, collaborative communication tools, and analytics insights embedded directly into policy and claims workflows.
Your background should be in London Market insurance/reinsurance, with roles at syndicates, brokers, managing agents, software vendors, or others within the complex commercial/specialty space of Lloyd’s and the company market. You should have a high degree of comfort with technology, exceptional analytical and communication skills, and be comfortable engaging in and delivering product designs.

Desired skills/experience:
1. 7+ years of experience in the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry, with at least 3+ years in IT/software implementation within the London Market insurance, Lloyd’s, or Company markets.
2. Experience working with London Market delegated authority systems for coverholder reporting or data standardization.
3. Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems, effective communication abilities, and the capability to research solutions while collaborating with domain specialists.
4. Proficiency in designing, estimating, and delivering solutions for complex product gaps and enhancements.
5. Proven track record of leading functional/technical workstreams on medium- and complex-sized implementation projects.
6. Ability and experience in communicating effectively with customers, partners and team members at the project leadership level.
7. Capability to influence customer and partner decisions.
8. Experience in defining and leading small or medium-sized proof of concept initiatives.
9. Experience in software package implementation through customization or configuration using agile methodologies, along with familiarity with object-oriented design principles and databases.
10. Proven track record of ensuring that implementations align with agreed standards, methods, best practices, and desired business benefits.
11. Ability to mentor and advise project team members on the utilization of best practices.
12. Willingness and ability to travel as needed (typically up to 50% of the time).
13. Genuine interest and curiosity in technology and solving tough technical problems.
14. Strong object-oriented design, development, and test skills with proven patterns knowledge, exceptional documentation skills, and the ability to communicate thought processes.
15. Experience with JAVA, J2EE, JMS, JDBC, or C#, .NET (a technical test is part of the selection process).
16. Hands-on scripting/programming/configuration capability in a multi-tier web application environment, including conducting peer code reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Serve as a subject matter expert on London Market insurance, including open market, delegated authority, and reinsurance.
2. Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development process for a functional track.
3. Design, configure, test, correct, and document large complex programs and application modifications from supplied specifications using agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result.
4. Conduct peer code reviews to ensure optimization of base features and adherence to Guidewire best practices.
5. Set project or team-based standards for requirements definition and design, advise on their application, and ensure compliance.
6. Learn and master your assigned Guidewire product in order to become a configuration resource and achieve Guidewire certification.
7. Consult with insurance carrier business and technical resources to produce business requirements and functional design documents.
8. Investigate and implement tools, techniques, and processes for managing configuration and requirements items and verify that related information is complete, current, and accurate.
9. Design and deliver solutions for complex requirements by leveraging Guidewire Products and technology to meet customer business objectives.
10. Learn and master the functionality provided by Guidewire applications in order to become a customer-facing professional services consultant.
11. Apply robust product knowledge to understand what can be configured as well as best practices that should be followed during the implementation life cycle.
12. Provide guidance to customers on how to best leverage Guidewire applications and technology to meet customer defined business goals and objectives.
13. Estimate the effort required to configure the software.
14. Handle difficult questions on-the-spot from Guidewire customers, partners, vendors, or other stakeholders.
15. Work with Guidewire product management/development to share key product gaps and further develop our core product features.
16. Provide exemplary service, technical advice, and guidance to ensure use of base features and best practices.
17. Communicate effectively with customers, partners and relevant stakeholders at the program management level.
18. Cultivate relationships with customer and partner that ensures Guidewire has a view on cross-functional projects.
