We are partnered with a leading contractor with a reputation in delivering world-class projects across a diverse range of industries dedicated to ensuring quality, safety, and sustainability. Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead the estimation process for mechanical projects. As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project specifications, and supporting the bidding process to ensure profitability and competitiveness. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, market conditions, and pricing strategies with a willingness to travel to sites when required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical installation projects, including analysing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify the scope of work and required resources.
2. Manage and submit competitive bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is included.
3. Review and verify bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure they meet project requirements and budgets.
4. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure alignment on project requirements.
5. Facilitate pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand project conditions and constraints.
6. Carry out risk assessments identifying potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop reliable solutions.
7. Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering in mechanical estimates.
8. Generate regular reports for senior management and stakeholders on estimating activities and outcomes.
9. Provide training and mentorship to junior estimators and other team members on mechanical estimating practices promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
10. Utilise estimating software and tools to prepare and manage cost estimates.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Degree/qualifications in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering or related field.
2. Significant years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably in the water industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, labour, and industry standards.
4. Understand and interpret contract conditions and specifications commonly utilized in the water industry.
5. Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, perform detailed cost analysis, and develop accurate and comprehensive estimates.
6. Dedicated team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
7. Excellent communication, leadership & interpersonal skills.
8. Knowledgeable in estimating software & tools.
