Position Summary:
The Band 3 Therapy Assistant will support qualified therapists in delivering therapeutic interventions and care to patients. This role involves working with children and their families, assisting with the implementation of therapy programmes, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist qualified therapists in the delivery of therapy sessions, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Support children in carrying out therapeutic activities as directed by the therapist.
- Help set up and prepare materials and equipment for therapy sessions.
- Monitor and record patients’ progress, providing feedback to the supervising therapist.
- Provide encouragement and support to children and their families during therapy sessions.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised therapy environment.
- Assist with administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
- Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare or educational setting, preferably with children.
- Basic knowledge of therapeutic techniques and interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with special needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of paediatric development and common childhood conditions.
- First Aid certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical activities required for the role, including lifting, positioning, and assisting children.
- Capacity to remain standing or sitting for extended periods.
