We are currently seeking a Domestic Abuse Officer to join our Tenancy Sustain Team. This is an exciting and important role to ensure that Torus is providing a robust response to customers experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse.
As a Domestic Abuse Officer, you will take responsibility for delivering a safety-led approach to disclosures of domestic abuse and providing survivor-led support in relation to housing interventions.
You will play a key role in ensuring that the needs of victims and survivors of domestic abuse are met, and support wider safety planning to reduce risk and support with housing-related interventions.
You will provide a trauma-informed response to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, making initial contact and utilizing the relevant risk assessment tool to support safety planning and the support required. You will be familiar with local authority pathways for referring to specialist domestic abuse services.
Within this role, you will represent Torus at MARAC in Liverpool, St Helens, and Warrington, providing key housing input into managing the safety of victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
This is an important role in which you will:
* Manage a caseload of domestic abuse support cases, providing housing-related advice and support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
* Complete Merit or Dash risk assessment tool to determine risk following disclosure of domestic abuse.
* Follow local authority referral pathways for specialist domestic abuse services and MARAC.
* Develop relationships with partner agencies to promote a multi-agency response to domestic abuse.
* Represent Torus at MARAC in Liverpool, St Helens, and Warrington, providing clear and relevant information, supporting wider safety planning and agreeing actions for Torus.
* Where required, assess the need for target hardening and support with the installation of additional security measures.
* Provide advice and guidance on rehousing options, supporting applications for rehousing and priority rehousing options.
* Support customers fleeing abuse to access emergency accommodation.
* In conjunction with the local specialist domestic abuse service, provide practical support and information to victims including in relation to housing, health, and finance.
* In partnership with other agencies, develop plans to protect clients, their children, and their families.
* Accurately record risk assessments, support plans, and all interventions in QL case management.
* Support the empowerment of customers and assist them in recognizing the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and assist them to regain control of their lives.
* Identify and report safeguarding children and adult concerns using the multi-agency framework and procedures.
* Promote the safety and protection of vulnerable adults and children by ensuring that all safeguarding issues and concerns are reported promptly in accordance with Local Authority and Torus safeguarding policies.
* Participate in multi-agency meetings, working groups, and other meetings including MARAC, MARAM, and Child Protection to deliver required outcomes.
* Ensure customers have access to services to meet their housing and support needs.
* Liaise with internal teams to ensure housing needs are met.
* Manage customer expectations of the service and provide clarity about the scope of your role.
To be successful in this role you will:
* GCSE Grade 3 and above education or equivalent relevant qualification, training, or experience.
* CIH level 3 or willingness to work towards.
* Evidence of working in the housing or domestic abuse sector.
* Experience of managing a caseload and multi-agency working.
* Experience of crisis management, risk minimization, and making decisions in difficult situations.
