We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Level 3 Safeguarding Officer to join a dynamic secondary school in Thornaby. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in safeguarding children, be capable of assessing, intervening, and evaluating potential safeguarding concerns, and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Actively assess, intervene, and evaluate potential safeguarding concerns within the organization.
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to ensure children’s safety and welfare.
* Be knowledgeable about safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practices, up to Level 3 standard.
* Lead or support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSL in safeguarding-related tasks.
* Ensure the implementation of safeguarding protocols and contribute to a culture of vigilance across the organisation.
* Provide support and guidance to staff on safeguarding matters.
* Conduct risk assessments and maintain accurate safeguarding records.
Requirements:
* Significant experience in safeguarding children, including direct involvement in assessing and addressing safeguarding concerns.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures, and legislation, up to Level 3 standard.
* Experience of holding a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL role.
* Child Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to apply for one.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, children, families, and external agencies.
* A proactive, compassionate, and professional approach to safeguarding.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
* Additional safeguarding-related certifications or training.
* Level 3 Safeguarding qualification.
* Experience in a similar role within a child-focused setting.
