About This Opportunity
We are seeking a go-getting dynamic person to join our Private Sector Housing Team in the Thriving Communities Directorate. The post is offered as a permanent contract working full time 37 hours per week. The appointee will be involved in a variety of housing enforcement duties and will primarily be carrying out Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments and HMO licensing inspections, mainly in Penrith and the surrounding area. There will be on occasion an expectancy to support colleagues dealing with housing standards complaints throughout the Council's wider localities when service demands require it. Other duties of the post include dealing with empty properties and assisting owners in bringing them back into use. You will also be supporting energy efficiency initiatives in the private sector.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of working in an enforcement role within a local authority or similar, as well as having an additional qualification or experience in environmental health, housing, construction or surveying. You should be a team player but be able to organise your own workload and be committed to providing a high standard of customer service. You must have good written and oral communication skills and be competent in IT. You must have the ability to travel efficiently around the borough to conduct visits and attend meetings; a full UK driving licence and access to a car would be an advantage.
