4020 - Highly Specialist Physiologist-Reporting Sonographers
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join our cardio-respiratory team at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We are an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated team who put the care of patients first. The Cardiology Department provides a range of services including cardiac ultrasound (TTE, contrast, stress and TOE), CIED implantation and follow-up, angiography, electrocardiography including ambulatory and exercise testing, spirometry, full lung function testing and CPEX services.
We are a forward-thinking department that strives for excellence in all that we do. We provide a lot of training opportunities for staff and regularly host 6 university PTP students annually.
The department is seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, suitably qualified physiologist to join our cardiac ultrasound team.
Main duties of the job
Providing independent specialist support to the Cardiac Ultrasound Service in transthoracic, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography.
Maintaining a high standard of cardiac ultrasound competency and patient care at all times.
Maintaining post graduate level accreditation in cardiac ultrasound, such as British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation.
Triage of echo referrals and advise staff on appropriateness, urgency and prioritisation of testing.
Developing any specialised areas of interest in cardiac ultrasound.
Participating in clinical audit and research.
To provide multidisciplinary training across professional boundaries to a range of staff including physiologists, nurses, medical staff, and others.
Providing mentoring/WBA for staff and students.

Experience
* To have general cardiology and respiratory diagnostic testing experience
* Experience of clinical teaching in ultrasound
* Experience of clinical audit and statistical analysis

Qualifications
* High level of clinical competence in a wide range of clinical physiological diagnostic tests.
* BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or equivalent.
* Post Graduate Diploma in echocardiography or equivalent training and experience.
* BSE accreditation.
* RCCP or AHCS registration.
