Family Support Practitioner (Full or Part time)
Location: East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: £24,000 - £28,647 per annum
We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner. This is an exciting new opportunity to join our new Prison - HMP Millsike.

HMP Millsike, the UK's newest, and first 'green' prison, is due to open in early 2025, run by Mitie Care and Custody on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. The Forward Trust is a strategic partner to Mitie Care and Custody, providing our Connections Services across the prison and supporting a restorative and rehabilitative culture that enables prisoners to unlock their potential.
What you will be doing?
The Family Support Practitioner role will work in HMP Millsike, providing specialist support to prisoners and family members through the delivery of effective 1:1, group interventions and structured programmes. The role is also required to work closely with other HMP Millsike staff, Forward staff and external partners to ensure a holistic package of care and support is provided.
What we are looking for?
1. Experience of providing support directly to family members/affected others in a criminal justice or addiction treatment setting.
2. Experience of delivering group interventions/facilitating group work with clients.
3. For individuals interested in becoming a lead practitioner for PCoSO or Care Leavers - an understanding of the specific requirements in working with the cohort.
4. A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the service as it develops.
5. A positive problem-solving approach with the ability to focus on key issues quickly and clearly.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. The ability to engage effectively with the client group.
8. Understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, equality and inclusion.
9. A good understanding of adult and child/YP safeguarding responsibilities.
