CMS is seeking to expand its Banking Knowledge Team with a Scots law qualified professional support lawyer who has an enthusiasm for the law. The successful applicant will be working with the English Banking Knowledge supporting specifically on Scots law across the busy and diverse Banking team in Scotland with practice areas that include corporate and leveraged finance, real estate finance, infrastructure, project and asset finance, restructuring and insolvency, fintech and digital assets. The initial priority objective will be to support on the know how projects required in relation to the Moveable Transactions (Scotland) Act 2023.
This role can be based in the Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen office and will be on a part-time basis. Flexible and agile options can be considered and discussed for this role.

About the Role
The individual will be proactive, self-motivated, and highly organised, and will bring opinions and ideas to the table, both in respect of optimising his/her role and delivering the know-how and training required by the Scottish Banking Team.
The individual will have an important role in the Scottish Banking Team, working alongside the English PSLs and the know how partners to enhance business functionality as well as being a “go to” for fee earner support.
About You
* Has a level of expertise in Banking and Finance and related law recognized for this skill by current employer.
* A lawyer capable of gaining the respect and confidence of fee earners (at all levels) and partners on technical issues and whose work product will, indirectly, command the respect of the team’s clients and targets.
* Experience in a fee-earning or PSL role within a large law firm is useful, but certainly not essential.
* Demonstrates a high level of technical legal knowledge and expertise, together with expanding peripheral knowledge and expertise.
* Strong intellectual ability.
* Excellent written / oral communication skills.
* Excellent training and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent drafting skills.
* Ability to write and produce presentation materials.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Strongly self-motivated and self-managing as the role will require someone able to identify appropriate priorities among many options and drive projects forward.
* Excellent research skills.
* Good project management skills.
* Has a good understanding of best use of IT and other support functions to enhance advice and services.
* Credible and professional; sets an example by high quality of own work, consistency, enthusiasm and an open and professional attitude throughout the workplace.
* Courteous and considerate in all professional relationships; an excellent listener; judges well when to listen and when to transmit know-how.
