Newcastle College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Engineering .
The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high quality learning programmes in E ngineering, across a range of levels of further education, higher education and / or apprenticeship provision, as well as undertaking a range of programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties.
This post requires a strong background in Machining and the candidate must have proven track record of professional / vocational expertise in the Engineering sector. Including:
1. The Ability to set and operate manual milling machines and lathes and interpret engineering drawings both first and third angle.
2. The ability to inspect machined parts in line with current industry standards.
3. Current knowledge of machining techniques, tool selection and material properties.
4. Lead engineering projects within a workshop working towards a common goal within the classroom.
5. A good knowledge of Hand-fitting and bench working techniques.
6. Preparation of workshop materials/activities, working with technicians to ensure materials are readily available.
7. Organisation of student work, tracking and documentation.
The candidate must be qualified to an industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe. It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE and / or Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice.
An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
