The Role
Legal Support Assistants assist generally across our legal department and may from time to time be allocated to different teams within the department. Legal Support Assistants ensure that documented internal service levels relating to customer service, client care and compliance are met, help with the client onboarding process including creating new Matters in our case management system, assist with compliance and post-settlement activities including Anti-Money Laundering checks and assist our solicitors and senior paralegals with client-facing and administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensuring that internal policies are being followed including checking through spot checks and auditing that post-settlement work is being carried-out timeously.
2. Collating and ordering documents in preparation for conveyancing transactions.
3. Executing identity checks for clients.
4. Assessing Risk of Clients and Transactions by assisting in auditing and compliance checks.
5. Setting up case files within our software system.
6. Liaising closely with team members to ensure all deadlines are met.
7. Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail, including logging and distribution.
8. Monitoring the department electronic inboxes, allocating emails to appropriate team members in a timely manner.
9. Scanning of mail and legal documentation onto system.
10. Ensuring high levels of client care.
11. Completing any other job related tasks as requested by your line manager.
12. Managing a wide range of administrative tasks.
Key Requirements
1. Scots Law Degree (LLB) desirable.
2. Diploma in Legal Practice advantageous.
3. IT literate.
4. Calmness under pressure.
5. Self-learning and a desire continually to acquire knowledge and skills.
