How you'll make an impact
The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting the finance team with accounting and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Process invoices, payments, and send remittance.
Bookkeeping duties, including managing direct debits and standing orders.
Process and pay employee expenses in line with company policy.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable, following up with suppliers as needed.
Assist with monthly bank and trade reconciliations, investigating discrepancies.
Support payroll processing.
Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with internal policies.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in responses for the annual audit.
Support VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
Work on ad-hoc projects as required by the finance department and Directors.
Manage company cash flow requirements, ensuring sufficient funds for trading activities.

You are familiar with accounting software (ideally Hubdoc and Xero, or similar).
You have strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

You have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
You are highly organised and can manage multiple tasks effectively.
You can work independently and maintain confidentiality in financial matters.
You are happy to be office-based.
Desirable Skills:
Degree educated.
Familiarity with budgeting, financial forecasting, and management reports.
AAT or equivalent accounting qualification.
