Job Title: Transport Manager.
Main Purpose of Job:
Boyd Recruitment are currently working alongside one of the leading companies operating in energy, renewable and telecommunication, who are looking to recruit a Transport Manager. The Transport Manager is responsible for leading the replacement programme for Company vehicles and plant, managing the vehicle supply and maintenance contract and associated contractors, ensuring the Company meets its statutory and Operators Licence obligations, and contributing to the Company's carbon reduction and climate mitigation strategies.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
* Provide strategic direction for fleet vehicles within the company to ensure they are procured, maintained, inspected, and serviced efficiently.
* Manage vehicle and maintenance budgets in accordance with Company procedures and make timely budgetary recommendations.
* Advise on transport and plant in the Company and provide guidance to ensure suitable equipment is available when required.
* Manage the procurement and maintenance contract for the vehicle fleet and mobile plant.
* Monitor and manage contractors/partners' performance, making interventions for improvements as needed.
* Act as the Company's primary Transport Manager, ensuring compliance with all license conditions and responding to changes in guidance and regulations set by the Traffic Commissioner.
* Authorize/certify accounts, orders, and invoices within specified limits, ensuring compliance with Company Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.
* Run the replacement program in liaison with service user representatives for new vehicles and plant, from specification to commissioning.
* Ensure adequate user training/familiarisation is conducted upon delivery of new vehicles and equipment.
* Lead the development or amendment of Transport systems for the section, with specialist support.
* Analyze accident trends and advise relevant managers.
* Approve schedules for MOTs, inspections, and servicing.
* Manage contracts and suppliers for Sat Tracking, fuel, traffic signal systems, and license checks.
* Monitor carbon emissions and fuel use, developing strategies to reduce fleet CO2 emissions through appropriate technology and efficiencies in vehicle usage.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of corporate projects and policies.
* Assist with budget setting for transport budgets and ongoing monitoring.
* Ensure good Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunity practices within the section and by contractors/partners.

* Maintain Operator Compliance Risk Score (OCRS).

Experience:
* Clear understanding of all legislation related to transport.
* Sufficient mechanical knowledge of vehicles and mobile plant for qualitative judgments and inspections.
* Sound budget management skills.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
* Knowledge of road transport logistics, including specifying, purchasing, and evaluating vehicles and mobile plant.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively and influence Senior Management.
Qualifications:
* Evidence of management experience in a Transport Manager role relevant to an outward-facing service.
* Full clean standard driving license.
* Certificate of professional competence, Freight National (or equivalent), and willingness to obtain the qualification.
* Relevant Health & Safety at Work qualification.
* 2 years demonstrable experience of managing relevant Fleet sections, driver training programs, and accident prevention.
* Good standard of education and demonstrable verbal, written, and numeracy skills.
