The role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the smooth running of Westminster School's Sports Centre.
Based in our Lawrence Hall Sports Centre, the General Manager will lead and manage a large, well-resourced Sports Centre. This role is instrumental to the delivery of a range of sports and fitness programs, ensuring that all staff and sports coaches are well-supported and capable of delivering activities.
The Sports Centre General Manager will also manage our facilities during non-sporting events, such as examinations or staff events. They will work with the Commercial Director to implement a commercial strategy to make use of the Sports Centre outside of school hours and term time. This will include exhibitions, filming and other commercial related activities.
As Westminster School moves towards becoming fully co-educational by 2030, the successful candidate will be key to developing the School's sports provision, helping to foster a love of sport and fitness in students of all ages.
About you
The successful candidate will possess experience in a similar role (e.g. managing a school/commercial Sports Centre), pairing this with experience of budget and line management. They will also need a relevant formal sporting qualification/certificate in sports training and instruction (e.g. an NQ or NC, SCQF Levels 4-6 in sport and fitness or a similar subject). As there may be evening and weekend use of our Sports Centre, some flexibility in working hours will be required to support this.
The Lawrence Hall Sports Centre
Lawrence Hall currently provides a spectacular home for our Sports Centre. A five-court sports hall dominates the lower floor and is complimented by a high-spec climbing wall down the full length of one side. Areas for fencing and other activities run down the other side of the sports hall. Across the other floors you will find a brand-new free-weights room, a well-resourced Fitness Suite, excellent land training facilities for rowing, a studio and a dojo. In addition to this there are extensive catering facilities and a café area.
